I miss Cambodia...sometimes

After fighting with the US Immigration jerks for three and one-half years they finally decided to let my wife have her visa.  It was a "why haven't you done this and that," to which I responded, "because you wouldn't let me!  To which they responded, "well you can do it now, your interview is in two weeks!"  They then gave us a full page of things we had to do before the interview.  It was a daunting task, but we hold up in a PP hotel and scrambled, but we got everything done with 12 hours to spare.  I'd heard bad things about the interview process, but ours was amazingly simple, "So, how did you meet your wife?"  To which I replied, "through her grandmother in the fish market."  Then she turned to Ren and said, "you will need to be here on Friday by 11:00 AM" and then she switched to how Ren would het he social security card and what she had to do when she passed through immigration when we landed.  I could not help myself, I had to ask, "you mean she has her visa?"  The lady laughed and said, "of course, she does."   We flew out the day after she received her passport.

Arriving in America was stressful.  I was expecting some kind of problems after all the grief they gave us to get the visa, but in fact, we breezed right through in just a couple of minutes.  Crazy.

Ren was thrilled by the apartment I rented even though I thought it more a dump.  She mastered the dishwasher quicker than I thought and fell in love with washing machines and dryers.  She's a happy lady.

I will try to attach a pic of our new ride as we travel around America waiting for the right time to take my boat back to Oregon and a complete refit, then we will be off to Alaska and...who knows.

I miss my friends there in Cambodia and hope all these changes going on in the Cambodian government does not reach up and bite you all in the arse.

Glad things have finally worked out for you both, man.

Do post more photos of your rig, and of your travels, if you have time.

The old Cambodia! Yes. But maybe not the new Cambodia. Things are changing very quickly.

That is so sad Andy, and me too!  I fear history may repeat itself there.

dicey eye

My life style is so under the radar and proletariat-Khmer orientated that to tell the truth I have experienced only minor, rather insignificant changes that impact my life.

I'm just not a high faltun' type of guy so I mosey along as always.
