.different date each month ....

Yep, its each fortnight so 26 times a year. (or 13 times a year if you're OS)

So $755:00 x 26 = $19,630 per year or $1,636:00 per calendar month.

$1,636:00 x 42 = 68,712 pesos per month.

Hard to make ends meet in Oz but not a bad sum in RP.

Mindless

Ahhh thats where I calculated wrong I multiplied his $1510 a month by 12 and got $18,120 divided by 26 gave me $692.92 a FN.  Much better with $755 a FN

But you're in Cambodia and you are talking Philippine pesos?   What its like in Thailand on that monthly income?

Ah yes, just realized that. I'm actually in Oz but It's because I'm sitting here booking various parts of my upcoming hols in RP.

Having lived many years in there I don't think I'd like to try it in Thailand.

For each country it's same money, just do your own conversion.

I used 42 pesos to $AU

Thai baht about 29 to 30 to $AU

Rial about 4,000.

And as we've all seen in posts all over the internet, "it depends how you want to live".

Recently, a forum member who is considering moving to Cambodia, contacted the US Embassy, Manila. He did so for confirmation of Social Security Administration checks. Here are the questions he asked, as well as the associated answers he received.

In this case, especially for Americans who are PLANNING on leaving the US soon to come and reside in Cambodia, I would strongly advise them to do the following:

      1. Open a Schwab Investor Checking Account, PRIOR to departing the US.

      2. Contact the SSA, and make whatever arrangements you must, to have them direct deposit your check into a local (stateside) checking or savings account. (I'm assuming this would be a fairly easy thing to accomplish, especially if you are still residing in the US?)

      3. Make sure the bank / financial institution is capable of either automatic transfers each month, or allows, via online banking, for you to initiate the transfer as needed.

      4. Use the ATM / Debit card you are issued from Schwab, to withdraw your funds each month. (Schwab will reimburse any and all foreign ATM fees, anywhere in the world.)

      5. If you are unable / unwilling to open a Schwab account, you can use your financial institutions ATM / Debit card to withdraw funds from any MayBank ATM, anywhere within Cambodia. Maybank is the only bank that I am aware of, that does not charge ATM fees. So, the only fees you would be obligated to pay, would be charged by your own financial institution.

Thanks, man, for sending me copies of your correspondence. Truly appreciated.
