its not a new visa, its a new extension of stay, ( issued by immigration) ,  ONLY the first entry is a visa, ( issued at border or at an embassy)

its not that we understand  BUT when newbies come onboard and get confused between visas an extensions;

its a big deal on thai visa.com   when people get confused between a 1 year VISA and a 1 year extension to stay ( different requirements)

Say what you mean....mean what you say

YES;

Thailand you can obtain a non o or B 1 year visa,or u can obtain a 1 year extension. different items/paperwork needed.

a visa is issued OUTSIDE the country and allows you to be admitted to the country,

an extension allows you to stay beyond the expiration of said visa

That may be the case. But, after all is said and done, the (Cambodian visa and EOS) stamps look identical in a passport, aside from dates, etc., changing on them.

As they say, six of one, half dozen of another. No reason to debate semantics here. Foreigners are confused enough already, when it concerns visas.

      So, if I want to live in Cambodia long term, at least a year or more and don't want to hassle leaving the country for visa renewals, which should I ask for when arriving at the airport and going through customs? I'll be leaving California with just a renewed passport and no visa for Cambodia.
