Six silkie hens, three months of age, were 4.5 kilograms (5.0 - .5 for the basket).

looks like he has spent money on the operation.

odd he is letting the two types breed promiscously.

how much per bird?

how old are they?

the black flesh characteristic is quite pronounced in these i see.

He has more pens than the ones I took photos of, as well.

Per kilo, they were 25,000r. A total of 4.5 kilograms, is what the six hens weighed.

The hens are three months old. Two to three more months, before they will start laying.

so at 12 weeks, these birds are worth the same $5 that your hatchery birds are worth, though much less food used in their production.

they need a higher protein lower carb diet than the commercial broilers i think.

Hatching Day approaches. Paul is going to be a Daddy.

July 1 and 2 he will be counting hatchlings.

Wonder if any will look like him?

Saw Cebu's fancy-dan incubator last week. Looked like the Rolls Royce of incubators.

Remember visiting me grandpa's farm in the late 1940s, early 50s and he had a homemade contraption - looked kinda funny, but got the job done. It looked something like this:

Looks like a few nice pullets in the pic taken at 14:23  Paul.   You should get some good layers there..

Could be a good idea to dip them after getting them home to kill lice and also worm them.

Would have, possibly. But, they were recently sold. The only chickens we currently have, are the silkies. So, I am hoping most of them will hatch. If we have a good hatch, we will be doing well.

We have 20 at the farm, and 11 here, along with a number of duck eggs.

So how did it work out expenses versus sales? Did you make a decent profit?

On the 41 white feathered chickens, not so good. Made out okay on the black feathered chickens, though. So, all in all, broke even.

Gonna stick to the Silkies for a while and see how they go.
