Just came back from a friends BBQ.

he just rented a 12 bungalow place in Kathu, ( 8 kms from Patong Beach) on a lake ( ex tin mine) with swimming pool and large yard and fenced in

30,000 baht/month ( $934)

has 6 air con rooms ( they rent for 4,000 baht/month ($125) and 6 fan rooms 3,200 ($100)

include hot water, large furnished room, Balcony, tv, and wifi

He is keeping 2 rooms so 10 for rent

I don't see you jumping on that bandwagon yourself, Richard. :D

Which two did he keep for himself? 2 fan rooms? 2 air-con? 1 of each?

the hell it is.

phukhet is known for being more expensive than other beach resorts in thailand.

let alone cambodia.

sounds like your buddy got a steal of a deal though.

not so much referring to his great find BUT that they have fan rooms for 3,200 baht.

on a lake, with swimming pool, tv, cable, wifi

ever see the $100 rooms in shv or PP?

Phuket is NOT more expensive BUT it can be if u choose ( there some nice villas for $2,000/day)

Low season u can get a room for the same price or less as Aqua resort an beach club in shv

He is keeping one fan/one air as he has a 1 year old boy.

Its really nice as has 2 floors and the rooms upstairs have a nice balcony that looks out over the lake and pool an views of the mtns

going to Phuket at the beginning of Sep. Do you have a name and phone number? I would like to stay for two months. May have a friend that would like  to do the same.

Richard do you have any suggestions for someone coming to town for a week to 10 days? Maybe even longer. Never been to Thailand. I'm interested in nightlife and nice beaches with clear water that you can swim in.  Your friends place sounds good but as a tourist may be too far out??   Thanks..  Also may end up bringing sand to the beach so may not need nightlife.  Looking for budget accommodations.

It gets pretty confusing with all the islands in Thailand on where to go.
