But, when I moved to the Philippines many years ago, I swore I would never budget my food bill. Everything else? Yes. Food? No way.

My feelings about beer, exactly.

The damn high cost of cheese jacks up the pizza price - dairy produces here cost an arm and a leg.

...

Is cheese (sharp/mature/vintage cheddar, not that tasteless Kraft/McD plastic stuff) readily available in the cities?

What sort of price per kilo?

Local SE Asian diet is fine by me, but I need an occasional splurge on cheese (and a glass or 3 of wine)

I keep it on hand as well, for sandwiches, etc.

$3.50 for 10 slices is what I pay, if I am correct? I will have to verify this. But, I believe that is the cost.

Wine, often, can run $2.00 US to $2.50 US / glass, depending on where you are drinking. I pay $2.00 for a glass of wine that I have while having my legs massaged, here in town. I do this about once per week. $10.00 USD, total. $8.00 US for the massage.

Wow! what a lifestyle! - wine with your massage! - how decadent can you get! - caviar out of stock? - Lol!

Why not! - you're a long time dead

Well I normaly drink a very respectable De Botoli "Chateau Cardboard" (a convenient every-day wine source) at home here in Oz . A box of white in the fridge and a box of red in the pantry.

That's A$18 (US$15) for the 4 litre box -  I calculate that to be about US60c/glass!

Good bottled wine is A$10 and up - pretty good stuff for <$20 a bottle.

However, I have only a DIY massage! - Lol!

I figure the wine helps the circulation of the ol' blood. :)
