Chiang Rai Thailand

Anyone familiar with Chiang Rai? A friend contacted me, asking if I knew how convenient it would be to do border (visa) runs, when necessary, from Thailand. I let him know I had no idea. But, I would try to find out for him.

So, is it possible to live "long term" in Chiang Rai? Or, would you have to get a retirement visa, or something similar, in order to stay?

If having having to do visa runs, how difficult is it to go into Laos or Burma? (I mean, would you have to secure a visa prior to entering either of those countries?)

Just trying to find some answers for him, if anyone can help?

Thanks,

if i didn't love water so much (hence reason for living in Phuket) I would live in Chiang Rai

cost u less than living in Cambodia for sure an dso many bonus's and it is NOWHERE close to what Pattaya is like

U'd need the 1 year retirement extension or study thai

Mai Sai ( burma border) is less than 45 minute drive

Laos voa
