Fish in aquaponics? Easy. Plants? Maybe not so much.

Labour was free! Because the students built there own system's.

No! I had never grown root veg in the UK or Thailand :)

You can, in ebb & flow beds, as shown in the video links I posted. Alternatively, you can use a Dutch Bucket system, cycled using AP water. 

 

That's the beauty of aquaponics, it can be flexible, focusing on what you wish to grow.

I am very familiar with this system! But beware root veg rot in water.

 

If you can persist and achieve the quality of lettuce the Khmer polytechnic are producing, it would be a good start. Lettuce is the easiest plant to grow. :)
