Hell of a trip

Came across this, partly because I would like to ride from Koh Kong to Battambang. In the dry season. So looks like I have missed to window of opportunity once more.

But what disturbs me more is the deforestation you can see in the photos.

Hell of a trip: dirt biking from Phnom Penh to Koh Kong

Seven days, eight bikers and some of Cambodia's roughest roads. Mark Peters rides from Phnom Penh to Koh Kong and lives to tell the tale.

Somewhere within the thick fug of red dust, the bike ahead is firing a machine-gun spray of rocks and dirt. Pebbles ricochet off of my protective chest armour with an almighty clatter. I'm moving fast and I can see barely two feet of rust-coloured trail in front of me.

Wouldn't mind being first in line, but the "machine-gun spray of rocks and dirt" sounds crappy.

yes were I have been the last few days near the Vietnam border, with road repairs. They have scraped all the tarmac off the surface and left muck. With the rain its a mud bath, and when not raining it's a dust field. I have suffered both with big trucks too and from Vietnam it's busy most of the time! You must have your witts with you and pay attention.
