Deforestation wouldn't be an issue here, if the Khmers would simply replant every time they cut trees. They have no concept, or care, for the future needs of their children. One day, this country will be almost desolate unless someone teaches them to do this.

Before anyone says, "They are too poor," that is no excuse for them destroying their own nation.

Yes they will! When all the trees are gone and following mass erosions, the new comers will show them how how to manage the dollar 0.00001 increase on sand export

That is why I put it in the thread heading it's under. Mostly it's management.

The ones whom are doing this are a very long way from being poor. It is more greed when the results are of this rape.

Unfortunately generally speaking the Khmers I've dealt with over the years don't think very far into the future. Maybe they ponder a day or two head of time, but never decades into the future.

They kinda have a live-for-today mindset.

Fair enough.

I only see individual, or small groups of guys, hauling firewood. I can only imagine how many of those guys are running up and down the highways of this country.

Either way, no one is replanting, which is what should be happening.

Takes a lot of large haulage for something like this.

Replanting costs. Who wants to pay?
