My PoiPet neighborhood is literally crawling with critters.

I won't be concerned with moving there any time soon.

Well, with the medical expertise of an Electronics Engineer, I pass on the advice I have picked up over my (rather many) years:-

Of course getting medical help and an anti-venom injection is the ideal solution, but ....

If that's not practical, then quickly applying a tight tourniquet on the heart-side of the wound prevents/slows the venom from migrating to more critical parts of the body. There are aguements to say that this risks losing a limb! - but you don't have many better options!

Minimising the victim's movement also helps to confine the venomous area.

And cutting the bite area and making it bleed profusely can reduce the venom concentration.

None of these are is a wonderful solutions, but if it's the best you can do, they may just save your life.... with a lethal snake bite, you haven't got much to lose by employing them!

Update on my stepson's medical condition.

He is home now. Took him to a private clinic for a second opinion this afternoon. Left arm is infected; was thoroughly cleaned, dressed and given industrial strength antibiotics. Tomorrow go to another hospital for more x-rays. At least he's currently in a clean environment.

He was knocked unconscious for a half hour due to the collision. He had scrambled shit-for-brains.

The 15-year-old victim, Chhouk Pisey, was bitten by a snake and died at the home of Tuoun Chhuon, 63, as he was trying to get home to his parents.

After the incident, the body was released for the traditional festival.

Any venomous snake bites on the head I would imagine are definitely fatal with or without antivenom.

RIP Chhouk Pisey
