Phnom Penh Municipal Court yesterday charged two Vietnamese women who allegedly tried to smuggle nearly one kilogram of methamphetamine, hidden in a toy bear, from Cambodia to Australia.

Major General Loek Vannak, chief of the Interior Ministry’s anti-drug trafficking department, identified the accused as Tam Hiu Ting, 55, a Chinese-Vietnamese; and Chan Dara, 27, a Cambodian-Vietnamese.

He said they are charged with drug transporting and face up to 30 years in jail each if convicted.

Daddy bear, Mummy bear, Baby bear! No the 1kg Ice bear. I wonder what the value of the drug here, and the value of it, if it got to Australia. Were the two ladies mules to a bigger force who never seem to be caught. Even so they will doing a long time in jail.

Drug smugglers into Australia need to be a lot smarter than that.

Trying to import drugs in a stuffed teddy bear has got very little chance of success..

Sniffer dogs at airport arrival, swab testing and x-ray of incoming baggage would pick that up easily.

So, off to jail!

Why not buy locally in Australia? lol
Probably would have  had a better chance putting it in a bottle and throwing it in the ocean than going though the airport.
