According to data from Poipet City, Poipet now has 5 floors up to 20 floors and 60 buildings.recently that Poipet City is booming with a surge in investment from national investors and special international investors are currently preparing for a local company. Rebuilding the airport, according to the company's plans, will build this airport in the coming dry season.

One source was:

Poipet Town BMC (facebook page that is cited directly under the photo, it was published yesterday at 6:02 PM) and the other is the real estate firm I cited above the blog.
I didn't put in the CNE report since it is almost a year old - that was published in Nov 2018

Ether way after someone has invested again the importer will be the one who benefits, and the family who controls this won't be putting a cent toward the building.

And it is certainly looking like the border areas (old K5) is going to be renewed for trade.

Be careful what you wish for.

Boom along the border

A group of Chinese investors has poured in close to 10 billion baht to develop a new city in Thmada, a border village in Veal Veng district in Cambodia's Pursat province -- a project which, upon completion, is expected to change the dynamics of trade and tourism along the Thai-Cambodian border.

Thmada is adjacent to Ban Tha Sen in Trat's Muang district, where both the Thai and Cambodian governments are planning to build a new, permanent border checkpoint, said Wiman Singphan, the vice-president of the Thai-Cambodian Border Trade Association in Trat.

"The project was initiated about six years ago by Cambodian tycoon Try Pheap, a former advisor to Prime Minister Hun Sen, who joined hands with a number of Chinese businessmen to develop the site but failed to bring the concept to life.

The current backers, who are closely linked with "a powerful figure" in Phnom Penh, then stepped in to take over and finance the project, he said.

Once completed, the new city will have more than 10,000 condominiums units.

"It will be built in five phases, and about 80% of the first phase -- equal to about 1,000 units -- have been completed, along with a five-star luxury hotel, restaurants, high-end casinos, and other public amenities," he said.

Mr Wiman said the entire project will be completed in the next three to five years, and to date, some three billion baht has been spent on construction in the area.

"Several thousand Chinese nationals have already taken up the opportunity to work and live in Thmada," he said.

Cambodia is the recipient of several grants and investments from companies backed by the Chinese government.

Upon further investigation it appears Big C and the cinema won't be opening until October 1st. Still just hearsay reports, nothing definite.

We attended the opening day ceremony. Overwhelmed by the milling hordes of eager shoppers.

Prices are considerably cheaper on the food items I checked out. Saved 80 cents on the pack of cheese I like.

Restaurant-cafeteria was so busy that by 2PM they sold out of 4 dishes I ordered.

The Multiplex Cinema is great, 4 screens, 4 different movies.

We were the first two to purchase tickets for the intense origin story "Joker". Harrowing portrayal of a psycho killer clown. Film has won top awards at international festivals.
